I’m a huge fan of DIY and house flipping television thanks to my partner and I’ve always been impressed with “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” It’s great that they aren’t just pimping some rich dude’s mansion, but that they pick people who really need the help. Yeah, I get a bit verklempt, I’ll admit it.

The provider of all the various window coverings the show uses is Select Blinds. I think they rock for working with the producers of the show. I also think they rock because they’ve thrown open the doors (and windows, I guess) to give great deals to the likes of us who can’t get such an extreme makeover, but could use some privacy from those prying neighbors.

I’ve never been a fan of wooden blinds of any type, but I love the cellular shades that can just give the room a great glow with perfect privacy or completely black out a room. Cellular shades are also known as honeycomb shades - a fact I did not know. Next time my window coverings need an upgrade, this is the site I’m visiting and I hitting the black-out pages hard. Most of these really high-end looking shade are much less expensive than draperies and other cloth coverings anyway - and I suspect they’re a lot easier to hang.
